EYFS CURRICULUM:
Our approach to learning is a combination of teacher led, teacher initiated and play based learning inspired by the Early Excellence and Alistair Bryce Clegg approaches to early learning and development.
We have a curriculum that is bespoke to our children and written by our staff using a combination of learning objectives from Development Matters, Birth 2 Five Matters and our own objectives. We value and consider individual learning needs and shape our curriculum to engage and interest our children.
The Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum is divided into seven areas of learning. These areas are subdivided into Prime and Specific areas as follows:
THE PRIME AREAS
THE SPECIFIC AREAS
At the end of the EYFS children are measured against the seventeen Early Learning Goals within the seven areas of learning. Children will either be ‘emerging’ or ‘expected’ in each area.
The Reception curriculum is designed to focus on the Specific areas of learning whilst continuing to nurture the children in the Prime areas too. The seven areas are used to plan your child’s learning and activities. Children in the EYFS learn by playing and exploring, being active, and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and outside.
In Reception, children take part in daily phonics and maths sessions along with learning linked to our ‘super seven’ books and other quality texts. Children access the continuous and enhanced provision to learn through play and through quality interactions with staff.
We can’t wait to welcome you to our wonderful school!
