Forest School is a much-loved part of Whinstone learning, giving children the chance to explore the outdoors, develop new skills, and build confidence in our natural ‘wild area’ environment. Through regular sessions in our woodland area, our year groups rotate to take part in hands-on activities such as den building, tool use, nature crafts, and learning about local wildlife. These experiences encourage curiosity, teamwork, and resilience, while also fostering a deep sense of care and respect for the natural world. Forest School provides a calm, nurturing space where children can learn through play, take safe risks, and develop independence—all while enjoying the freedom and wonder of being outside.
